What is
Ultrapure water
Ultrapure water is extremely pure water without any minerals, salts, or organic substances. It is used in hydrogen production, laboratories, the semiconductor industry, and medical applications where absolute purity is required. Ultrapure water goes beyond the quality of demineralized water.
The highest level of water purification
Ultrapure water
Ultrapure water is water purified to the highest degree. It contains virtually no dissolved substances such as salts, minerals, organic compounds, or microorganisms. This makes ultrapure water even purer than demineralized (demi) or reverse osmosis water. Such purity is essential in applications where even minimal contamination can affect processes or product quality.
Ultrapure water is widely used in industries with stringent water quality requirements. For example, in the semiconductor industry, microchips are cleaned with ultrapure water to prevent defects. It is also indispensable in laboratories, the pharmaceutical industry, and the medical sector for chemical analyses, instrument rinsing, and medicine production, where sterility and purity are crucial.
Additionally, ultrapure water plays a key role in power plants by preventing corrosion and deposits in steam circuits. It is also used in the production of AdBlue® and hydrogen. Through electrolysis, ultrapure water enables efficient and ultra-pure processes.

Remon produces ultrapure water wit a
Advanced demi productionline
At Remon, ultrapure water is produced through a carefully designed production line combining TITAN® membrane filtration and electrodeionization (TITAN® EDI). The process begins with pre-filtration, which—depending on the available water source—is carried out via ion exchange or aeration. This stage removes larger impurities and gases from source, mains, or surface water.
Next, the water passes through reverse osmosis (TITAN® membrane filtration), where high pressure is used to remove dissolved salts, bacteria, and other contaminants.
Following this step, electrodeionization takes place. In this system, remaining anions and cations are removed using electrical voltage, resin, and special membranes. This is done without the addition of chemicals, making the process both sustainable and continuous.
The combination of membrane technology and EDI ensures exceptionally thorough purification. This production process is also referred to as a “demi productionline.”
Remon offers a customized solution for every
