Remon drills high-capacity water well for fire-fighting supply at Hotel Elements on Terschelling
Projects by Remon regularly feature one or more installations placed at customer locations that use mains water, surface water or groundwater. Since reliable and sufficient water starts at the source, Remon often drills the water well itself. This was also the case for a new, state-of-the-art hotel being developed on Terschelling, where a fire-fighting water supply was required.
Hotel Elements on Terschelling is a contemporary and luxurious retreat set amidst the dunes, within walking distance of both beach and nature, and scheduled to open in January 2026. The hotel combines modern architecture with warm, natural materials, creating an immediate sense of calm and spaciousness. Elements offers comfortable rooms and apartments, complemented by extensive wellness facilities.
To ensure safety in the event of a fire, a reliable amount of extinguishing water was essential. Therefore, a fire well was drilled at Hotel Elements. A fire well is a groundwater source located in a soil layer with an ample water supply; water quality is of minor importance in this context. For a large complex like Elements, a well capable of delivering no less than 60 m³ of water per hour was required.

Remon advised, based on its own soil analysis, a well depth of over 60 meters. After drilling, a powerful submersible pump was installed to bring the water to the surface with sufficient pressure. The fire well is finished with a double stainless-steel wellhead to which two fire hoses can be connected. In the event of an emergency, the fire brigade can easily switch the pump on and off via the control cabinet.
Thanks to this fire well, the availability of sufficient extinguishing water is always guaranteed. A reassuring thought.
