What is
Boiler feed water
Boiler feed water is water used to supply steam boilers and generate steam. It must be carefully purified to remove dissolved salts, gases, and other impurities. Poorly treated feed water can cause corrosion, scale formation, and reduced efficiency, or even damage to the boiler system.
Boiler feed water for
Steam boilers
Boiler feed water is essential for the safe and efficient operation of steam boilers. It is used in sectors such as the food industry, power generation, chemical production, and horticulture, where steam is required for heating, cleaning, or manufacturing processes.
The water entering a boiler must meet strict quality standards. Untreated water often contains dissolved salts, oxygen, and other impurities that can cause scale, corrosion, and foaming, reducing both boiler efficiency and lifespan.
Production of boiler feed water typically starts with aeration and/or softening, followed by techniques such as reverse osmosis and, if required, electrodeionization (EDI). These processes remove minerals and dissolved solids, aiming to keep ion content as low as possible to minimize blowdown water—since discharging blowdown is costly.
The required water quality depends on the boiler’s operating pressure (0.5–100 bar) and temperature. The higher these values, the stricter the feedwater requirements. Continuous monitoring and adjustment of water quality are therefore essential. Properly treated boiler feed water ensures operational reliability, lower maintenance costs, and improved energy efficiency.
Frequently requested types of water

Remon produces boiler feed water that meets all
Quality standards
At Remon, the production of boiler feed water always starts at the water source. Depending on the type of water—groundwater, mains water, or surface water—a suitable pre-treatment process is selected. For groundwater or surface water, Remon typically installs an ion exchanger and often a multi-filter for softening and aeration. This step removes iron, manganese, and scale-forming salts. For mains water, a softener is usually sufficient.
The pre-treated groundwater, surface water, or mains water is then further purified using a TITAN® membrane filtration system for reverse osmosis. This effectively removes dissolved salts, microorganisms, and organic substances. If an even higher level of purity is required, electrodeionization (TITAN® EDI) is applied. This technology removes remaining ions without the use of chemicals.
Remon offers a customized solution for every
Water demand
Whether your source is groundwater or surface water, fresh or saline, Remon has a suitable solution for every water demand. After a thorough analysis, we work with you to determine which installation is best suited to your situation. At Remon, every process water installation is assembled with the utmost care.
