Since 1 January 2011, a new directive BRL SIKB 2100 has entered into force in the new legislation on mechanical drilling. This directive applies to all source drilling in the Netherlands, regardless of the method of drilling and regardless of the purpose of the watersource drilling.
BRL SIKB 2100 is the guideline for mechanical drilling. This directive was drawn up by the Foundation Infrastructure Quality Assurance Soil Management (SIKB) in the Netherlands.
BRL SIKB 2100 is a quality guideline that refers to the performance of mechanical drilling in the soil. It describes the requirements and guidelines that a company must meet to ensure the quality of the drilling process. It focuses on various aspects, like the competence of the staff, safety, materials used, and the recording of data.
As of 1 January 2011, only companies certified according to BRL SIKB 2100 may carry out source drilling. Sources that have not been carried out by a certified company have thus become illegal and both client and drilling company commit an economic crime if a source that does not meet the BRL SIKB requirements is drilled anyway. To this end, monitoring is carried out by the government.
The uncontrolled penetrating of separating layers in the soil will eventually lead to a deterioration of the groundwater quality. Therefore, the government sets rules on the performance of mechanical drilling
Therefore, the objective of the new directive is to ensure that watersources are drilled in a responsible and competent way, where the water-bearing layers stay separated after the installation of the watersource. In other words, the soil structure must be restored after the source drilling. This method requires good equipment, but also craftsmanship which are guaranteed by the BRL SIKB 2100 certificate.
To this end, Remon is checked every year for equipment and craftsmanship. A source drilled by Remon therefore also meets the requirements laid down in the new legislation.
