Ultrafiltration
Effortlessly purify surface water, recirculation water, and drain water.
What does
Ultrafiltration do?
An ultrafiltration system carries out the process of ultrafiltration, in which liquids are pushed through a special semi-permeable membrane with “hollow tubes” to block impurities and particles. The membrane’s permeability is determined by the size of the particles. The liquid to be purified is pretreated and then forced through the membrane under pressure, causing particles larger than the membrane’s pores to be retained. The membrane is selective—only particles smaller than a certain size can pass through, while larger particles are captured on the membrane’s retention side.
The retained particles, such as bacteria, viruses, and other impurities, are left behind. This is known as a dead-end filtration method. The purified product, also called permeate, flows out on the other side of the membrane and mainly consists of water molecules and small dissolved substances.
Ultrafiltration systems are used in water purification, ultrapure water production, wastewater treatment, food and beverage purification, and various industrial processes where removing specific particles is essential.

When is ultrafiltration
applicable?
When source water is unavailable or of poor quality, the TITAN® UF from Remon is the ideal solution. The TITAN® UF is perfectly suited for purifying surface water, recirculation water, and drain water. Suspended solids, clay particles, humic substances, sludge, bacteria, and viruses are effortlessly removed. The TITAN® UF can also serve as a pre-treatment for reverse osmosis or nanofiltration. With the TITAN® UF, it is possible to (pre-)purify fresh, brackish, and saline surface water to drinking water quality.

TITAN® UF Ultrafiltration
The TITAN® UF can treat almost any type of water. With TITAN® UF ultrafiltration, you can effortlessly purify surface water, removing suspended solids, clay particles, humic substances, sludge, bacteria, and viruses. The water is sterile after purification. The TITAN® UF is also highly suitable for purifying recirculation water and drain water in the greenhouse horticulture sector. No disinfectants are needed, as the purification modules provide LOG4 disinfection for viruses and even LOG5 disinfection for bacteria. The TITAN® UF is also suitable as a pre-treatment for surface water before reverse osmosis or nanofiltration. This makes it possible to pre-purify fresh, brackish, and even saline surface water to drinking water quality. The TITAN® UF from Remon is available with 1, 2, or 3 ultrafiltration modules.
Visual monitoring and
PLC control
After suitable pre-treatment (strainer + sand filter or disc filter), the water can be fed directly through the TITAN® UF, where it is purified by special hollow fibers. Clean water passes through the membrane fibers while impurities are retained inside. Once enough debris has accumulated, the system initiates a cleaning cycle using a flushing pump and flush tank to rinse the fibers, preparing the unit for continued use. Transparent flushing lines provide visual monitoring of the cleaning process.
Due to the dead-end filtration technique, thorough backwashing is required. The system first rinses the fibers from bottom to top, then from outside to inside, ensuring the pores within the fiber walls are thoroughly cleaned. The machine is equipped with advanced sensors and measuring instruments that communicate intelligently with the touchscreen control interface. This interface is accessible online, enabling remote operation. This allows you or Remon to monitor and control the system anytime, anywhere. The pneumatic ball valves necessary for operation are high-quality and controlled via the PLC. A compressor is included as standard.
Sleek fininsh and
High quality
The TITAN® UF is neatly arranged on a stainless steel skid, with operational components such as the control cabinet, flow and pressure sensors, and air-operated valves all mounted on the front. The filtration membrane modules are positioned at the back. For maintenance, the modules can be individually isolated thanks to integrated ball valves.
The flow meters and pressure sensors are of high quality, with analog signals ensuring accurate measurement of pressure and flow. The stainless steel skid features fiberglass grating and has a clean, finished appearance.
The purification modules come from NX Filtration. These filtration modules, produced in the Netherlands, are among the very best ultrafiltration elements due to their exceptional quality. For Remon Water Treatment, using NX Filtration elements is a given—only the best is good enough!
Surface water requires
Efficient prefiltration
The TITAN® UF is a purification unit that can treat surface water to any desired quality. However, surface water has some disadvantages compared to, for example, groundwater. In general, surface water contains more contaminants, such as suspended solids, organic material, and microorganisms. These substances can cause clogging after suction. To prevent this, Remon often installs a patented floating intake point when purifying surface water. This intake point, called HYDRA®, draws in the surface water under sufficient pressure and prevents large impurities, such as organic material and floating debris, from being sucked in. The water is then pre-filtered by an Orbis disc filter before being purified through ultrafiltration.

Self-cleaning systems for more sustainable use
Remon HYDRA® self floating system
The patented, self-floating Remon HYDRA® system is designed to efficiently draw in and transport surface water to the Remon Orbis disc filter. At the heart of the system is the self-cleaning, rotating intake screen, positioned on the suction side of the pressure-controlled stainless steel submersible pump. The screen is continuously rinsed clean by a small return flow from the frequency-controlled multistage pump, which immediately flushes away debris and ensures a constant water supply.
The system combines the self-cleaning screen, the multistage pump, and a buoyant body, resulting in energy-efficient, quiet, and frost-free operation. The submersible pump transports water from the intake point to the Remon Orbis ring filter. Thanks to constant pressure control and high capacity, this provides a reliable and efficient water flow.
The self-cleaning filter minimizes maintenance and extends the system’s lifespan. By combining these advanced technologies, the Remon HYDRA® system offers a sustainable, reliable, and low-maintenance solution for the transport of surface water.
Remon Orbis Diskfilter
The Remon Orbis is a fully automatic disc filter composed of two, three, or more filter housings. The filter element consists of plastic rings compressed onto a variable holder. During the backwash cycle, this filter element is automatically released by the flushing mechanism. Filtration takes place through the compressed stack of grooved filter rings.
These filter rings are specially designed to remove organic contaminants more effectively from the water, resulting in a cleaner filtrate. Coarse particles are retained on the outer surface of the filter, while finer particles are trapped between the crosswise grooves of the filter rings. This provides depth filtration comparable to the function of a sand filter bed.
During the backwash cycle, accumulated debris on and within the filter element is efficiently removed. This is achieved by a nozzle system that sprays powerful jets from the inside of the loosened, lightly rotating filter rings. As a result, complete cleaning is achieved with minimal use of rinse water. The Remon Orbis disc filter is therefore a fully automatic, self-cleaning system that ensures reliable and efficient water filtration.
