Municipality of Westerwolde commissions Remon Water Treatment to drill 11 fire water reservoirs.
In September 2023, the municipality of Westerwolde, located in the forested east of Groningen, approached Remon to drill a total of eleven fire water reservoirs in Bellingwolde, Blijham, Wedde, and Sellingen. A report from the safety region had identified so-called “white spots” in these areas—locations such as homes or barns where the fire brigade could not access sufficient water quickly enough to fight fires.
Remon took on the extensive project, and work began in May of this year. All 11 reservoirs have now been drilled, and the final above-ground finishes are being completed. With these installations, Westerwolde now has sufficient firefighting water, fully compliant with regulations, making the eastern part of Groningen a safer place.
